Volunteer Projects

Pierre is actively involved in activities and initiatives that promote Fair Trade among business professionals and the greater public. He is a member of Paris Equitable, an NGO whose objective is to promote products carrying the Max Havelaar label and more generally Fair Trade

2007

Event: Fair Trade and Entrepreneurship Conference at ESSEC Business School
Date: May 23
Location: ESSEC French Business School
Pierre invited three Fair Trade specialists to speak to ESSEC students
Speakers:
1. Adeline Coeur from Max Havelaar France gave students facts and figures on Fair Trade.
2. Jome Schatzman, TUDO BOM Manager, talked about his experience in creating TUDO BOM, a Fair Trade company.
3. Martin Veber, a Sorbonne student who had recently spent 3 months in El Ceibo, the Bolivian Fair Trade cooperative, gave his outlook and feedback on Fair Trade

Event: Fair Trade day at L'Oreal France headquarter
Date: May 9
Location: L'Oreal International headquarters Paris, France
Pierre and other volunteers enabled approximately 400 L'Oreal employees to taste Alter Eco and Ethiquable Fair Trade products. They helped raise awareness of Fair Trade and the Max Havelaar label among the employees and also promoted the idea of Fair Trade-based cosmetics to L'Oreal Sustainable Development Manager.

Event: Fair Trade day at the Parisian outdoor and indoor Aligre market
Date: May 6
Location: Paris outdoor and indoor Aligre market
Pierre and other volunteers hosted public sampling and tasting of Fair Trade products in order to raise awareness of Fair Trade and the Max Havelaar label.

Event: Translation for Fair Trade producers from the Dominican Republic
Date: April 27 to May 13
Location: Paris
Pierre was guide, interpreter and translator for banana Fair Trade producers from the Dominican Republic

Event: 2007 French Fair Trade Forum
Date: April 27 & 28
Location: Museum of Citdes Sciences et de l'Industrie in Paris
Pierre was on the Max Havelaar stand to educate the greater public to Fair Trade and to Max Havelaar's mission.

2006

Event: Fair Trade night at the Paris Sebastopol Daily Monop' grocery store
Date: November 15
Location: Paris Sebastopol Daily Monop' grocery store
Pierre and other volunteers hosted sampling and tasting of Ethiquable and Alter Eco Fair Trade products and raised awareness of Fair Trade to approximately 300 shoppers.
